She still couldn’t wrap her mind around the devastation.

"Then I’d better hang up and start reading."

'Kerosene!'

Ice and snow and rain again and at last sunlight breaking through the clouds, and green again, green of grass and trees, blue of sky by day, sparkle of stars by night.

They listened with interest to Stringer’s story.

And I’m not giving it up.

Lettie shouted, “Get down!” and she crouched on the moss, pulling me down with her.

The author of the book, one Agnes Nutter, was not surprised by this, but then, it would have taken an awful lot to surprise Agnes Nutter.

In the same early morning, I discovered a singular affinity between seeds and corduroys.

"Una salva de aplausos y silibos envidiosos celebró la hazaña."
A round of applause and envious syllables celebrated the feat.

"I took it away from a drunk who said he’d bought it in a speakeasy for twelve bucks."

"Things these Muggles dream up, eh?"

ERICA GOLDSON: Graduation speech

awesome, i’m truly impressed!

For decades now in America we have been witnessing a steady and sickening denigration of humanistic understanding and humanistic method. We live in a society inebriated by technology, and happily, even giddily governed by the values of utility, speed, efficiency, and convenience. The technological mentality that has become the American worldview instructs us to prefer practical questions to questions of meaning – to ask of things not if they are true or false, or good or evil, but how they work.

mod comment: Normally we don’t do reblogs here on starshollowconfessions, but I wanted to put this out to all our lovely followers, who obviously belong to the Gilmore Girls fandom, so that when they tally the numbers for this fandom research project, their results are as accurate as possible—and happen to show how much Gilmore love is out there in the tumblrsphere!
So…if you could please reblog, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

peanuhbutta:

Perfect

The fact that you’re struggling doesn’t make you a burden. It doesn’t make you unloveable or undesirable or undeserving of care. It doesn’t make you too much or too sensitive or too needy. It makes you human. Everyone struggles. Everyone has a difficult time coping, and at times, we all fall apart. During these times, we aren’t always easy to be around — and that’s okay. No one is easy to be around one hundred percent of the time. Yes, you may sometimes be unpleasant or difficult. And yes, you may sometimes do or say things that make the people around you feel helpless or sad. But those things aren’t all of who you are and they certainly don’t discount your worth as a human being. The truth is that you can be struggling and still be loved. You can be difficult and still be cared for. You can be less than perfect, and still be deserving of compassion and kindness.

a bit cheesy, but so so sweet and motivating!

I want you. I want your sleepy confused look when you wake up. I want to be the warmth that fills the space in your bed. I want to be the sheets your fingers crave at night; the blanket that wraps around you all night. I want to drink tea with you, share some records we find. I want to talk about everything in the world newspapers. I want to discuss with you, to be stubborn and quick-witted with you. I want to have differences between us. I want your flaws. All of them. I want go into the deepest corners of your mind and never get bored of you. I want to be surprised by the new all the time. I want to look at you like a movie, a living piece of art; always trying to chase what you crave … and capture you.
